Description

This cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the detection of HORMAD1 (HORMA domain-containing protein 1) in human samples, offering a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive approach for measuring relative HORMAD1 protein expression in cultured cells. HORMAD1 is a key protein involved in meiotic recombination and chromosome synapsis that contributes to genomic stability, and its dysregulation has been linked to infertility and certain types of cancer, making it a valuable biomarker for research into these conditions.

The assay uses a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm in a 96-well microplate format and follows an indirect ELISA format: HORMAD1 is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody, catalyzing a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. For data normalization, a monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method is provided to determine cell density. The dynamic range is reported as > 5000 cells, the recommended sample type is adherent cells, and the kit is stored at 4°C with a stability of 6 months.

Associated database information for the target includes Gene ID 84072, UniProt ID Q86X24, OMIM 609824 and Unigene Hs.298312. The target protein has a reported molecular weight of 36,676 Da and is classified as a Cancer Testis Antigen (CTA) located at chromosomal region 1q21.3. The kit is intended for research in developmental biology.
