Description

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of HEXB levels in cell lysates and tissue samples, using an indirect ELISA format. HEXB, also known as beta-hexosaminidase subunit beta, is an enzyme involved in the degradation of glycosphingolipids, and aberrant HEXB expression has been linked to lysosomal storage disorders and neurodegenerative diseases, including Sandhoff disease (GM2-gangliosidosis type 2).

The assay employs HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies with colorimetric detection at 450 nm, in a 96-well microplate format suited to adherent cells. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included to serve as an internal positive control for normalization, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density. The dynamic range exceeds 5000 cells, and the kit is stored at 4°C with 6-month stability. The format supports high-throughput screening of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), and activators.

Applications include drug discovery, biomarker identification, and studies of disease mechanism relevant to HEXB function in cellular processes and pathology.
