Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a Th2-type cytokine central to eosinophil biology, B-cell class switching toward IgE, and the regulation of allergic and parasitic immune responses in research models. This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie is configured specifically to measure native IL-5 in guinea pig specimens, supporting immunology, inflammation, and respiratory research workflows where species-matched reagent compatibility is essential.
The kit accepts serum or plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants as input material. Each box provides reagents sufficient for 96 assays in a microplate format intended for in vitro research use only, and is supplied with a complete buffer set, recombinant standard, detection antibody, and substrate components required to generate a standard curve on the included plate.
Because guinea pig IL-5 sequence diverges from mouse and human orthologs, species-specific reagents are required for accurate quantitation. Researchers working on ovalbumin challenge models, schistosome infection studies, allergen sensitization assays, and eosinophil recruitment experiments rely on this configuration to capture physiologically relevant cytokine release from cell culture and tissue samples.
