Description

Developed by Assay Genie, this kit is specifically designed for the precise quantification of α-lactalbumin levels in goat milk samples. α-Lactalbumin is a key protein found in goat milk that plays a vital role in infant nutrition, as well as in promoting immune function and enhancing muscle growth. Its abundance in goat milk makes it a valuable biomarker for studying lactation and milk quality, establishing this kit as a tool for researchers in the dairy industry and academia.

Built on a sandwich ELISA, double antibody architecture with a colorimetric readout, the kit provides a sensitivity of 0.375 ng/mL across a range of 0.625–40 ng/mL. Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Linearity was demonstrated in serum (82–105%), EDTA plasma (85–104%), and heparin plasma (83–101%) across serial dilutions, with corresponding average recovery of 90%, 99%, and 96%.

The procedure comprises reagent equilibration to room temperature, a 37°C primary incubation for 90 minutes, biotin-labeled detection antibody binding at 37°C for 60 minutes, HRP-streptavidin binding for 30 minutes, TMB substrate development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and absorbance reading at 450 nm after stop solution addition. Sample-specific preparation protocols are provided for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatant, and cell lysates, with further guidance available through the Assay Genie technical support team for additional sample types such as body fluids or breast milk. Reagents are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months.
