Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this cell-based ELISA kit enables qualitative detection of GluR1 (GRIA1), an AMPA receptor subunit implicated in neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity. The assay uses a colorimetric method read at 450 nm in a 96-well microplate format and is reactive with human, mouse, and rat samples, including adherent cells.

The kit is lysate-free and works by an indirect ELISA approach: GluR1-specific primary antibodies capture the target, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalising target absorbance values, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step can be used to determine cell density, allowing absorbance values to be normalised to cell amounts. The dynamic range is greater than 5000 cells, and the kit can be used to measure relative GluR1 levels in cultured cells and to screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators.

Storage is at 4°C for 6 months. Associated database entries include Gene ID 2890, UniProt ID P42261, OMIM 138248, and Unigene Hs.519693. GluR1 is an integral membrane protein of the glutamate-gated ion channel family, and dysregulation of GluR1 has been linked to various neurological disorders.
