Prostacyclin (PGI2) is a major arachidonic-acid-derived eicosanoid generated through the cyclooxygenase pathway and is best known for its roles in vasodilation, inhibition of platelet aggregation, and maintenance of vascular endothelial homeostasis. The Assay Genie General Prostacyclin (PGI2) ELISA Kit is a competitive immunoassay enabling quantitative measurement of this prostaglandin in research samples, with results read on a standard colorimetric microplate reader using the included 96-assay plate. The kit is widely used in cardiovascular research, pulmonary hypertension studies, preeclampsia investigations, and broader endothelial dysfunction and inflammatory signaling workflows.

Each kit is supplied with pre-coated microwell strips, assay and wash buffer, calibrator standards, detection reagent, and substrate solution sufficient to run a complete quantitative protocol. The competitive binding format is well suited to small lipophilic molecules such as prostaglandins, which are difficult to capture in a classical sandwich configuration. Reconstituted standards are used to generate a calibration curve, and unknown sample concentrations are interpolated against this curve following the package insert protocol.

Intended for research use only, the assay accommodates cell culture supernatant, tissue homogenate, and ex vivo perfusate workflows alongside blood-derived specimens. With 96 assays per kit, users can run standard curves in duplicate and still process a meaningful number of test samples, supporting both small pilot studies and larger screening campaigns in academic and translational vascular biology laboratories.
