The Assay Genie Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) competitive ELISA is a quantitative immunoassay for endocrinology and reproductive biology research. DHT, a potent androgen derived from testosterone through 5α-reductase activity, drives prostate tissue development, influences hair follicle cycling, and contributes to male reproductive maturation, making precise quantification valuable for hormone pathway investigations.

This 96-assay microplate format relies on competitive binding, where endogenous DHT in specimens competes with a conjugated DHT analogue for antibody binding sites immobilized on the plate. Following a wash step to remove unbound material, addition of an enzyme substrate generates an absorbance signal inversely proportional to DHT concentration, measured on a standard microplate reader.

Investigators can apply the kit across multiple specimen matrices relevant to androgen research, including serum-derived samples, plasma preparations, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants. Universal reactivity supports use with samples from various species commonly employed in preclinical hormone studies, accommodating both in vitro experimental models and in vivo workflows. Each kit contains sufficient reagents for 96 individual determinations in a microplate layout.

Unopened components should be stored refrigerated per the product insert, and aliquoting working solutions before use limits freeze-thaw cycles on sensitive reagents, helping preserve assay performance across multiple experimental runs.
