General Carnosine (CAR) ELISA Kit

Carnosine (β-alanyl-L-histidine) is an endogenous dipeptide concentrated in skeletal muscle, brain and cardiac tissue, where it buffers intracellular pH and quenches reactive oxygen species generated during exercise, ischemia and normal aging. Accurate quantitation of this histidine-containing peptide underpins research on muscle fatigue, sarcopenia, cognitive decline, diabetic glycation and oxidative-stress biomarkers in human, rodent and cell-based models.

This Competitive ELISA from Assay Genie ships as a complete microplate kit containing pre-coated wells, lyophilised standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer and chromogenic substrate. The protocol uses a 50 uL sample volume per well with a 37 °C incubation, multiple wash steps and a final stop reaction read on a standard microplate reader. Detection range 1.56 to 100 ng/mL and sensitivity around 0.78 ng/mL allow quantitation across both physiological baseline and treatment-induced elevation in tissue homogenates, plasma, cell lysates and culture supernatants. Reagents are supplied in single-use vials sized for the stated plate format.

Upon receipt, store unopened reagents refrigerated and protected from light; allow the plate and buffers to equilibrate to room temperature before each run, and keep working dilutions of the standard on ice to limit freeze-thaw loss of the analyte.
