General 5-Hydroxyindoleacetic Acid (5-HIAA) ELISA Kit

5-Hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) is the principal urinary metabolite of serotonin, and quantitative measurement of 5-HIAA levels is widely used in research on carcinoid tumors, carcinoid syndrome, and serotonin turnover disorders. This Assay Genie competitive ELISA is built around a microplate pre-coated with a 5-HIAA-protein conjugate; sample 5-HIAA competes with the coated antigen for binding to a specific antibody, allowing quantification through an enzymatic color development step read on a standard microplate reader.

The kit supports research workflows in neurochemistry, gastroenterology, and oncology laboratories investigating enterochromaffin cell function.
