GALK1 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA

Designed for the qualitative measurement of GALK1 (galactokinase 1) protein expression in cultured cells, this cell-based ELISA from Assay Genie uses an indirect format in which the target is captured by GALK1-specific primary antibodies and detected using HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies that catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition.

Validated for use with human, mouse, and rat samples, the kit has a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and is read at 450 nm using a colorimetric detection method. It is suitable for adherent cells, cell lysates, and culture supernatants, and can be used to screen the effects of various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on GALK1 expression. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control to normalize target absorbance values, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density.

GALK1 is a key enzyme in galactose metabolism, and its dysregulation has been associated with metabolic disorders including galactosemia. By enabling measurement of relative GALK1 levels, the kit supports research into galactose metabolism and related diseases. The kit is supplied in a microplate format and should be stored at 4°C, where it remains stable for 6 months.
