Galectin 3 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie enables qualitative determination of Galectin 3 in cultured adherent cells using an indirect ELISA format. The assay is lysate-free, high-throughput and sensitive, capturing the target with Galectin 3-specific primary antibodies while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody. The HRP enzyme catalyses a colorimetric reaction measured at 450 nm, with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells.

The kit is suitable for measuring relative Galectin 3 levels in cultured cells and for screening the effects of various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals) or activators on the protein. It is reactive with Human, Mouse and Rat samples, is provided in a 96-Well Microplate format and is stored at 4°C for 6 months.

Two normalisation methods are supported: a monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH serves as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density and adjust for plating differences. The kit supports research in developmental biology, where Galectin-3 is a multifunctional protein involved in cell adhesion, migration and proliferation, with implications in cancer, fibrosis and inflammatory diseases.
