GAD1/2 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

The colorimetric assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which target-specific primary antibodies are bound by HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies, with signal read at 450 nm. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to normalize absorbance to cell density. The dynamic range is greater than 5000 cells. The kit is supplied in a microplate format for storage at 4 °C with a stated stability of 6 months.

GAD1 and GAD2 catalyze the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from L-glutamic acid, and dysregulation of GAD1 has been linked to neurological disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, and autism spectrum disorder. Researchers can use the kit to measure relative GAD1/2 levels in cultured cells or to screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors such as siRNA or chemicals, and activators on GAD1/2 expression.
