Fos Transcription Factor Activity Assay

The Fos (c-Fos) transcription factor forms the AP-1 (Activator Protein-1) complex by dimerizing with Jun family proteins, controlling genes that drive cell proliferation, differentiation, stress response, and neuronal activity. This DNA-Binding ELISA from Assay Genie offers a non-radioactive alternative to EMSA for quantifying activated Fos in nuclear and cell lysates from human, mouse, and rat samples.

The microplate supplied in the 96 Assays format is pre-coated with a double-stranded oligonucleotide containing the AP-1/Fos consensus binding site. Active Fos protein in the sample binds to this immobilized probe and is detected with a Fos-specific antibody, generating a signal proportional to transcription factor activation. The assay streamlines studies of MAPK/ERK signaling, immediate-early gene induction, oncogenic transformation, and stimulus-triggered activation, with results typically obtained in approximately 3.5 hours.
