Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP1) is a hepatic-secreted glycoprotein that modulates IGF signaling by binding circulating IGF-I and IGF-II, and in teleost fish its plasma concentration is highly responsive to catabolic states. Published studies in salmonids, zebrafish, and tilapia show IGFBP1 rises sharply during fasting, hypoxia, handling stress, and contaminant exposure, making it a widely adopted readout of hepatic and pituitary hepatic axis activity. Because the protein is induced by cortisol and suppressed by insulin, researchers use serial sampling to track nutritional recovery, smoltification, and chronic stress loads in aquaculture populations. The Assay Genie standard curve covers the physiological and stress-induced window reported in fish plasma, allowing direct comparison with published reference ranges without further dilution optimization. Capture antibodies target conserved mid-molecule epitopes of fish IGFBP1, supporting broad reactivity across rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon, common carp, and zebrafish. For longitudinal studies, aliquot working standards and store the sealed plate dry at 2 to 8 degrees C between runs to preserve binding activity over the recommended shelf life.
