Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA kit is designed for the detection of phosphorylated FER (Phospho-Tyr402) in cultured cells. The colorimetric assay is read at 450 nm and uses an HRP-conjugated secondary antibody with a colorimetric substrate to generate the signal. The kit is suitable for measuring relative phosphorylation levels of FER in adherent cells and for screening the effects that various treatments, inhibitors, or activators have on FER phosphorylation.

The assay follows an indirect ELISA format, in which FER (Phospho-Tyr402) is captured by phospho-specific primary antibodies. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance values, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step may be used to determine cell density. Reactivity is reported for human and mouse samples, with a dynamic range of > 5000 cells.

FER is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase of the Fer family that regulates cell-cell adhesion and mediates signaling from the cell surface to the cytoskeleton via growth factor receptors. Phosphorylation of FER at Tyr402 is important for its kinase activity and downstream signaling pathways. Dysregulation of FER activity has been linked to cancer development and progression, making this kit a useful tool for researchers studying FER signaling dynamics and related disease states.
