Description

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative detection of FAKD1 protein levels in cell lysates and tissue homogenates. It is configured for a 96-well microplate format, works with adherent cell samples, and is reactive with human and mouse specimens. Detection is by a colorimetric method read at 450 nm, with a stated dynamic range of > 5000 cells.

The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which FAKD1 is captured by FAKD1-specific primary antibodies and detected via HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies that catalyse a colour reaction upon substrate addition. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalising target absorbance values, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density, allowing absorbance values to be normalised to cell number.

FAKD1, also known as Focal Adhesion Kinase Family Interacting Protein of 200 kDa and corresponding to the gene symbol FASTKD1, belongs to the FAST kinase family and is localised to the mitochondrion. It participates in cell signalling pathways involved in adhesion, migration, and invasion, and abnormal FAKD1 expression has been linked to cancer and cardiovascular disorders, making it a relevant target for drug development and disease research.
