Description

From Assay Genie, this cell-based ELISA kit enables qualitative detection of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) phosphorylated at the Tyr407 site in cultured cells. It uses an indirect ELISA format in which phospho-specific primary antibodies are bound by HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies, producing a colorimetric signal measured at 450 nm. The kit is lysate-free and intended for adherent cell samples, with reactivity confirmed for human, mouse, and rat.

FAK is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase central to cell adhesion, migration, and survival signaling, and phosphorylation at Tyr407 is known to regulate its activity. The target is encoded by the PTK2 gene (Gene ID: 5747; UniProt ID: Q05397), and the assay is suited to research on cell signalling mechanisms relevant to cancer, cardiovascular, and inflammatory disease contexts. The dynamic range is > 5000 Cells, and normalisation is supported by an included anti-human GAPDH monoclonal antibody alongside a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step used to adjust absorbance values to cell density.

As a qualitative cell-based ELISA, the kit is appropriate for measuring relative changes in FAK phosphorylation in response to treatments, inhibitors (including siRNA or chemical compounds), or activators.
