The equine TIMP2 quantification kit from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinases 2 concentrations in horse-derived specimens. TIMP2 is a secreted glycoprotein that regulates matrix metalloproteinase activity and helps maintain the balance between extracellular matrix synthesis and degradation in connective tissues. Equine researchers studying osteoarthritis progression, tendon and ligament healing, laminitis pathophysiology, cartilage turnover during training, and reproductive or respiratory tissue remodeling routinely profile TIMP2 to assess MMP/TIMP stoichiometry in their experimental designs.

Configured as an in vitro research immunoassay, the kit accepts serum samples, plasma, and tissue homogenates from horses. Each shipment includes pre-coated microplate strips, equine TIMP2 reference standard, detection antibody, substrate solution, wash buffer, and assay diluent in ready-to-use vials. Store unopened kit components refrigerated and protect from light; bring all reagents to room temperature before running the assay. Once the plate is opened, reserve unused strips in the resealable pouch with desiccant to limit moisture exposure.

For research use only, the microplate format supports processing of many samples within the supplied kit, and standard curves generated from serial dilution of the included equine TIMP2 reference allow interpolation of unknown sample concentrations via a suitable plate reader. Cartilage degradation biomarker profiling, MMP/TIMP balance studies, and comparative veterinary model work all benefit from inclusion of this equine-specific TIMP2 measurement in the workflow.
