Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme-containing peroxidase stored in azurophilic granules of equine neutrophils, and this immunoassay kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of MPO in horse-derived specimens for veterinary inflammation and oxidative stress research. The enzyme is released into surrounding tissue during neutrophil degranulation, supporting studies of joint inflammation, laminitis, colitis, recurrent airway obstruction, endotoxemia, and exercise-induced injury in equine models.

The kit is supplied as a microplate-based format containing pre-coated wells, lyophilized recombinant equine MPO reference standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer concentrate, TMB substrate, and stop solution. End users run a dilution series of the standards in parallel with unknown samples to generate a calibration curve from which sample concentrations are interpolated. The reagents are intended for in vitro research use only and are not cleared for veterinary diagnosis or human use.

For specimen handling, whole blood can be drawn into standard collection tubes, allowed to clot for serum recovery or anticoagulated for plasma recovery, then centrifuged to isolate the cell-free supernatant. Synovial fluid, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and cell culture supernatant are also compatible with the workflow after appropriate dilution in the provided assay buffer. All kit components should be kept refrigerated when not in use and equilibrated to room temperature prior to running the protocol. The microplate layout supports parallel processing of standards, controls, and experimental samples in a single experiment, making it practical for both small pilot studies and larger equine research cohorts.
