EPB41 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA Kit is designed for the qualitative detection of EPB41 (erythrocyte membrane protein band 4.1) protein expression directly in cultured cells, without the need for lysate preparation. The colorimetric assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which EPB41 is captured by target-specific primary antibodies and detected with HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies, with signal read at 450 nm. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to normalize absorbance values to cell density.

The kit is reactive with human and mouse samples and is intended for use with adherent cells. It can be applied to measure relative EPB41 levels in cultured cells and to screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on EPB41 expression. EPB41 is a major structural element of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton that, together with spectrin and actin, contributes to red cell shape, mechanical stability and deformability; mutations in EPB41 are associated with type 1 elliptocytosis (EL1) and the protein has been implicated in hereditary spherocytosis and other blood disorders. The kit is supplied in a microplate format with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and is stored at 4°C for 6 Months.
