E-cadherin Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

This cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the qualitative measurement of E-cadherin protein expression in cultured cells. It is a lysate-free, high-throughput assay that uses an indirect ELISA format in which E-cadherin is captured by target-specific primary antibodies and detected with HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies, producing a colorimetric readout at 450 nm. The assay is intended for adherent cell samples and can be used to compare relative E-cadherin levels across treatments, inhibitors such as siRNA or chemicals, and activators.

The kit is supplied in a microplate format and includes reagents for normalisation, notably a monoclonal antibody against human GAPDH to serve as an internal positive control, together with Crystal Violet solution for whole-cell staining to determine cell density. Reactivity is reported as human, the dynamic range is stated as "> 5000 Cells", and storage is at 4°C for 6 months. The target, E-cadherin (gene symbol CDH1; Gene ID 999; UniProt P12830), is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion glycoprotein involved in epithelial cell-cell adhesion, with changes in its expression linked to diseases including cancer and developmental disorders.
