Description

Designed for veterinary endocrinology research, this solid-phase sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of canine parathyroid hormone (PTH) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids [S1]. The kit is reactive with dog samples [C0][S1] and uses a colorimetric detection method [C0], supporting studies of calcium and phosphate metabolism, bone-health research and investigation of conditions such as hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism [S1]. Specificity is directed against natural and recombinant dog PTH [S1].

The assay delivers a detection range of 7.8-500pg/ml and a sensitivity of 2.1pg/ml [S1]. Linearity has been verified across serial dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma: serum (N=5) ranges of 94-104%, 102-111%, 97-107% and 81-91% at dilutions 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 respectively; EDTA plasma (N=5) ranges of 81-92%, 98-109%, 93-103% and 104-114%; heparin plasma (N=5) ranges of 108-117%, 115-125%, 99-109% and 105-117% [S1]. Intra-assay, inter-assay CV values and recovery data are supplied with the kit [S1].

The target analyte is the secreted parathyroid hormone (UniProt accession P52212) with a listed molecular weight of 12,957 Da; PTH elevates blood calcium by mobilising bone salts and limiting renal calcium excretion and stimulates [1-14C]-2-deoxy-D-glucose (2DG) transport and glycogen synthesis in osteoblastic cells [S1]. The protein interacts with PTH1R via its N-terminal extracellular domain [S1]. Listed research areas include cancer [S1]. Components include a dismountable ELISA microplate along with lyophilised standard, sample diluent, assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate, stop solution and plate sealer, stored across −20°C and 4°C conditions; the kit is shipped at +4°C [S1][S3]. For research use only [S1].
