Desmin Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

A high-throughput, lysate-free cell-based ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the qualitative measurement of desmin protein expression in cultured adherent cells. The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which desmin is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody to catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition.

Reactivity is established for human, mouse, and rat samples, with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells. The assay is read at 450 nm following addition of the provided stop solution. To support normalisation, a monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step can be used to determine cell density and adjust for plating differences.

The kit is supplied in a 96-Well Microplate format and is intended to be stored at 4°C with a stability of 6 Months. Desmin is a class-III intermediate filament expressed in muscle cells, where it forms a network connecting myofibrils to each other and to the plasma membrane. Abnormalities in desmin have been linked to myopathies and muscular dystrophies, supporting its use as a biomarker in muscle biology research.
