The Assay Genie SARS-CoV-2 IgM serology assay is built around the Spike protein S1 Receptor Binding Domain (RBD), the same region the virus uses to dock onto host ACE2. By coating recombinant RBD antigen onto each plate well, the kit captures circulating anti-RBD IgM from patient serum samples. Because IgM rises early during acute infection and declines within weeks, this Indirect ELISA workflow supports identification of recent or active exposure, distinguishing it from IgG-based assays that mark longer-term immunity. Researchers apply the kit in seroprevalence surveys, vaccine candidate evaluation, and convalescent donor screening, where class-specific antibody profiling improves the resolution of cohort analyses. The kit shows no significant cross-reactivity with human IgG, providing a class-specific readout for acute-phase serology. Pre-coated microtitre plates, anti-human IgM-HRP conjugate, substrate solution, wash buffer, and standard curve reagents are supplied as a complete assay kit. A standard curve is used to assign qualitative or semi-quantitative results to each specimen. Serum samples are added directly to antigen-coated wells, incubated, washed, and detected with an HRP-labelled secondary antibody. TMB substrate produces a measurable signal proportional to bound IgM. Store all reagents at the temperature indicated in the product manual, refrigerated, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
