Class-specific SARS-CoV-2 serology helps separate mucosal antibody responses from systemic profiles. This indirect ELISA kit from Assay Genie detects human IgA antibodies binding the Spike protein S1 subunit Receptor Binding Domain (S1 RBD), enabling researchers to track IgA serostatus independently of IgG and IgM measurements.

The kit works with dried blood spot eluates as well as venous blood derivatives, which is useful for population-scale serosurveillance where venipuncture is impractical. Each package contains reagents for 96 assays run on a standard microwell plate. All components should be refrigerated upon arrival and equilibrated to room temperature before the protocol; protect conjugates from light. Reconstituted working solutions can be stored refrigerated for short-term use. This product is for research use only and is not cleared for clinical diagnostic reporting.

Operational highlights:

  • Indirect ELISA format with an enzyme-substrate colorimetric readout
  • IgA-specific detection against the S1 RBD region of the Spike glycoprotein
  • Compatible with dried blood spot, plasma, and serum sample inputs
  • Complete kit supporting a single 96-assay microplate run
  • Standard plate-reader workflow with no specialized instrumentation required

Because the Spike RBD is the primary attachment interface to ACE2, antibodies recognizing this region are widely used correlates of neutralizing activity in functional assays. Pairing IgA-specific measurement with dried blood spot sampling allows investigators to collect, ship, and process samples without full cold-chain logistics, broadening access to community-based and field-study designs. The kit fits vaccine immunogenicity studies, mucosal immunity research, and epidemiological screening programs where IgA status adds resolution beyond IgG-only panels.
