Cortisol ELISA Kit

This competitive ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of cortisol in a range of biological samples, including serum, plasma, and saliva. Built on a coated-antigen format, the assay is suitable for research into stress response, metabolism, and hormone regulation, where cortisol serves as a key biomarker for conditions such as Cushing's syndrome, depression, and anxiety disorders.

The kit is reactive across universal sample types and supports serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. It delivers a detection range of 0.391–25 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.234 ng/mL, and uses a colorimetric detection method. Kits should be stored sealed at 2–8 °C and not cryopreserved.

In validation testing, serum samples showed recovery averaging 92% (range 88–97%), EDTA plasma averaged 97% (range 85–105%), and heparin plasma averaged 94% (range 87–99%). Linearity was maintained across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions, with serum ranging 86–105%, EDTA plasma 84–100%, and heparin plasma 81–99%. The procedure involves a 45-minute incubation at 37 °C with biotin-labelled antibody, TMB colour development, and absorbance reading at 450 nm.
