Connexin 43 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

A Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed to measure Connexin 43 (GJA1) expression directly in adherent cells using an in-cell, lysate-free workflow. With a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and detection at 450 nm, the kit captures Connexin 43 via target-specific primary antibodies followed by HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies that catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition.

The assay supports reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples and is run in a 96-Well Microplate format. Storage is at 4°C with 6 Months stability. Because the ELISA is qualitative, two normalization approaches are provided: a monoclonal anti-human GAPDH antibody serves as an internal positive control, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density, allowing absorbance readings to be adjusted to cell amounts.

Connexin 43 is an integral membrane protein of the connexin family (gene symbol GJA1, Gene ID 2697, UniProt P17302). Hexamers assemble into connexons that aggregate to form gap junctions, enabling diffusion of low-molecular-weight materials between neighbouring cells. The kit is suited to studying relative Connexin 43 expression in cultured cells and to screening the effects of treatments, siRNA, chemicals, or activators on the target.
