Chicken Progesterone ELISA Kit

This competitive ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for the quantitative measurement of progesterone in chicken samples, including serum, plasma, egg yolk, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The assay uses a coated-antigen format and is suited to research on poultry reproductive health, breeding management, and hormone regulation, where progesterone is monitored as a key regulator of the reproductive cycle, egg production, and fertility.

Performance figures reported by the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and an assay range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. Linearity in serum (n = 10) was 86–103%, 93–104%, and 89–105% at 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions, respectively; EDTA plasma (n = 10) returned 83–101%, 82–100%, and 88–98%; and heparin plasma (n = 10) returned 84–95%, 88–100%, and 80–91%. Spike-and-recovery testing gave mean values of 94% for serum, 95% for EDTA plasma, and 93% for heparin plasma.

The protocol involves equilibrating the TMB substrate for 30 minutes at room temperature, adding 50 µL of standard or sample together with 50 µL of biotin-labelled antibody per well, incubating at 37°C for 45 minutes, washing the plate five times, developing colour with TMB in the dark at 37°C for 10–20 minutes, stopping the reaction, and reading absorbance at 450 nm. Kits must be stored sealed at 2–8°C and must not be cryopreserved.
