Description

From Assay Genie, the Caveolin-1 (Phospho-Tyr14) Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a lysate-free, high-throughput assay designed for the sensitive detection of Caveolin-1 phosphorylated at tyrosine 14 in cell lysates. The kit uses an indirect ELISA format in which target-specific primary antibodies are captured and detected with HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies that catalyze a colorimetric reaction read at 450 nm, and it supports work in cell biology, signal transduction, and disease research where Caveolin-1 phosphorylation is relevant.

Qualitative determination of relative Caveolin-1 (Phospho-Tyr14) levels is achieved using adherent cells, and the assay is reactive with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, with a stated dynamic range of > 5000 Cells. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalization, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step is used to determine cell density so absorbance values can be adjusted for plating differences. The kit can be applied to measuring the relative amounts of phosphorylated Caveolin-1 in cultured cells and to screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on Caveolin-1 phosphorylation.

Additional target details from the source: gene symbol CAV1, Gene ID 857, UniProt ID Q03135, sub-type Phospho, with the underlying protein described as a scaffolding component of caveolar membranes involved in signal transduction and membrane trafficking, and implicated in diseases including cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders.
