Canine Homovanillic acid (HVA) ELISA Kit

A competitive ELISA kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of Homovanillic acid (HVA) in canine serum, plasma, and lysate samples, and is supplied for research use only.

The assay has a stated measurement range of 0.78–50 ng/mL. Standard workflow involves adding sample and detection reagents to microplate wells, performing wash steps, incubating with substrate, adding stop solution, and reading optical density at 450 nm. Sample preparation depends on matrix: serum is clotted and centrifuged, plasma is collected with EDTA or heparin as anticoagulant, and lysates are solubilised in lysis buffer before clearing by centrifugation.

HVA is a metabolite of dopamine with a role in the central nervous system, and changes in HVA levels have been linked to neurological disorders. The kit is therefore aimed at research into canine models of these conditions and the use of HVA as a biomarker.
