From Assay Genie, this canine C-Reactive Protein (CRP) quantification kit serves veterinary diagnostic and research laboratories characterizing acute-phase inflammation in dogs. CRP is the principal acute-phase protein in the species, and its circulating concentration climbs rapidly after bacterial infection, surgical trauma, immune-mediated flare, or neoplastic insult, then declines as inflammation resolves; serial measurement therefore tracks disease activity and treatment response more responsively than erythrocyte sedimentation rate or total leukocyte count.

Each kit contains reagents sufficient for 96 individual canine specimen determinations, with an absorbance-based enzymatic end-point read on standard microplate instrumentation. Specimens are derived from canine whole blood after standard pre-analytical processing, and the workflow is compatible with both serum preparations and anticoagulated plasma preparations, giving laboratories flexibility in collection protocols. Clinical applications include monitoring post-operative recovery, gauging antibiotic response in bacterial infections, screening for occult inflammatory disease, and supporting oncology workups where elevated CRP correlates with tumor burden.

Research applications span canine models of sepsis and systemic inflammatory response syndrome, vaccine reactogenicity studies, characterization of immune-mediated polyarthritis, and investigation of chronic inflammatory conditions such as pancreatitis or inflammatory bowel disease. Baseline canine CRP values in clinically healthy animals are typically low, so the assay's dynamic range supports detection of both subtle subclinical elevations and pronounced acute-phase spikes.

Storage and handling: keep kit components refrigerated between uses, protect from light, and equilibrate to room temperature before each run. Aliquot standards and quality controls to limit repeated freeze-thaw events.
