Caldesmon Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, the Caldesmon Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a cell-based assay for detecting Caldesmon protein expression in cultured cells. It uses an indirect ELISA format, in which Caldesmon-specific primary antibodies are detected by HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies that catalyze a colorimetric reaction read at 450 nm.

Designed as a lysate-free, high-throughput and sensitive assay for adherent cells, the kit can measure relative Caldesmon levels in cultured cells and screen the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on Caldesmon expression. It has a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and has been validated for reactivity with human, mouse and rat samples. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining is provided for cell density determination to adjust for plating differences.

Caldesmon is a cytoskeletal, actin- and calmodulin-binding protein that regulates actomyosin interactions in smooth muscle and nonmuscle cells and plays a role in cell motility and contraction. Dysregulation of caldesmon has been linked to cancer, cardiovascular disease and muscular disorders, making it a relevant biomarker in research. The kit is supplied in a 96-well microplate format with colorimetric detection and is stored at 4 °C with a stability of 6 months.
