The Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit quantifies bovine keratin, type II cytoskeletal 8 (KRT8) in serum and plasma using a colorimetric detection method on a 96-well microplate. KRT8 is a type II intermediate filament protein expressed in simple epithelia of the liver, gut, and glandular tissues, and circulating fragments of K8 (often paired with K18) are widely studied as biomarkers of epithelial cell death in hepatic injury, toxicology studies, and carcinoma research. The assay provides researchers with a quantitative tool for measuring KRT8 levels in bovine models, supporting translational work in veterinary diagnostics and comparative epithelial biology.

Each kit includes a pre-coated 96-well plate, standards, detection antibody, and reagents sufficient for 96 assays. Store all components at 2-8°C and protect from light; allow reagents to reach room temperature before use. For research use only.

The standard curve is generated from a seven-point serial dilution, with a dynamic working range of roughly 0.156–10 ng/mL and a lower detection limit near 0.05 ng/mL under the recommended protocol. Serum or plasma samples are typically loaded at 50 µL per well after appropriate dilution, and the complete sandwich ELISA workflow — including incubation, washing, and color development with TMB substrate — can be finished in approximately 3.5 hours. Standards are supplied as lyophilized aliquots that should be reconstituted, snap-frozen if not used immediately, and subjected to no more than two freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antigen integrity. The biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP conjugate are matched to bovine KRT8 epitopes on the 54 kDa monomer and show negligible cross-reactivity with KRT18, KRT19, or other intermediate filament family members. Each microplate is individually foil-sealed with a desiccant pouch, and unopened kits remain stable for up to 6 months when refrigerated at 2-8°C. Assay Genie supplies full protocol documentation with this bovine KRT8 ELISA kit. For research use only.
