Veterinary immunology laboratories rely on Assay Genie's cytokine quantification kit to measure bovine Interleukin-10 (IL-10), an anti-inflammatory cytokine central to regulating inflammation in cattle. IL-10 is secreted by monocytes, macrophages, B-cells, and regulatory T-cell subsets, where it suppresses Th1-driven responses, limits tissue damage, and modulates the balance between protective immunity and immunopathology. Researchers investigating bovine respiratory disease complex, clinical and subclinical mastitis, Johne's disease, and parasitic challenges such as liver fluke or tick infestations use circulating IL-10 measurements as a biomarker of immune regulation during infection.

The kit accommodates diverse sample matrices, including blood fractions such as serum or plasma, tissue homogenates from necropsy or biopsy, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants collected after in vitro stimulation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Each kit contains reagents sufficient for 96 individual determinations in a microplate format and is intended for research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications. Working solutions should be stored refrigerated between runs and protected from light, with the antibody-coated plate sealed in its foil pouch with desiccant to preserve binding activity through repeated freeze-thaw cycles of standards.

Typical applications include profiling cytokine responses following experimental vaccination trials, evaluating anti-inflammatory effects of feed additives in dairy or beef herds, monitoring immune suppression during viral infections such as bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), and characterizing host-pathogen interactions in challenge studies. Plates are read on a standard microplate reader using absorbance-based readout with the substrate provided, and quantitative results are interpolated from a standard curve freshly prepared on each plate from serial dilutions of the reconstituted lyophilized standard.
