Description

Designed for the quantitative detection of bovine Glycylpeptide N-tetradecanoyltransferase 1 (NMT1), this colorimetric Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is intended for use with bovine serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. It specifically recognises natural and recombinant bovine Glycylpeptide N-tetradecanoyltransferase 1 and delivers a detection range of 78-5000 pg/ml with a sensitivity of 31 pg/ml.

NMT1 (also known as Myristoyl-CoA:protein N-myristoyltransferase 1, Peptide N-myristoyltransferase 1, or NMT) catalyses the reaction Tetradecanoyl-CoA + glycylpeptide = CoA + N-tetradecanoylglycylpeptide, adding a myristoyl group to the N-terminal glycine residue of certain cellular and viral proteins. This protein myristoylation step supports normal cellular signalling, and dysregulation of NMT1 has been implicated in cancer, neurological disorders, and infectious diseases, making it a relevant target for cancer research. The protein (UniProt P31717) has a molecular weight of 56,919 Da and localises to the cytoplasm and cytosol, and as a peripheral membrane protein that copurifies with ribosomes.

Supplied in a solid-phase format, the kit is stored at -20°C and shipped at +4°C, and is intended for research use only.
