Decorin is a key component of the extracellular matrix and is involved in regulating collagen fibrillogenesis, cell adhesion, and tissue organisation. The assay detects natural and recombinant bovine Decorin, with a detection range of 31.2-2000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 12 pg/mL. Suitable sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

According to UniProt entry P21793, decorin has a molecular weight of 38.5 kDa and may affect the rate of fibril formation. The protein binds to type I and type II collagen, fibronectin, and TGF-beta, forms a ternary complex with MFAP2 and ELN, and interacts with DPT. It is secreted to the extracellular space and matrix.
