Bovine Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables detection of bovine Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1), a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase involved in the metabolism of fatty acids. The enzyme uses molecular oxygen to insert one oxygen atom into a substrate while reducing the second into a water molecule, with electrons provided by NADPH via cytochrome P450 reductase, and catalyses the hydroxylation of carbon-hydrogen bonds. It hydroxylates fatty acids specifically at the omega-1 position displaying the highest catalytic activity for saturated fatty acids, and may be involved in the oxidative metabolism of xenobiotics.

The kit is reactive with bovine samples and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Specificity is established for natural and recombinant bovine Cytochrome P450 2E1.

According to the manufacturer, Cytochrome P450 2E1 is an important enzyme involved in drug metabolism and activation as well as in the detoxification of various substances in the liver, and it is implicated in oxidative stress and the development of liver diseases.
