The Assay Genie Bovine B4GALT1 ELISA Kit quantifies Beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 1, a Golgi-resident glycosyltransferase that transfers galactose from UDP-galactose to N-acetylglucosamine acceptors, forming the Galβ1-4GlcNAc disaccharide found on N-glycans, O-glycans, and glycolipids. In bovine systems, B4GALT1 also functions as the catalytic subunit of lactose synthase, where association with α-lactalbumin shifts acceptor specificity toward glucose to drive milk lactose production during lactation.

This sandwich ELISA uses a capture antibody pre-coated on a 96-well microplate, with biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP for colorimetric readout at 450 nm. Serum and plasma samples are validated; the assay provides a standard curve for absolute quantification and is intended for research use only in studies of mammary gland biology, glycosylation profiling, dairy science, and bovine metabolic research.

Store kit components at 2-8 °C, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of reagents. Bring all reagents to room temperature before use.

From Assay Genie, this 96-well sandwich ELISA quantifies bovine B4GALT1 in serum and plasma using biotin-streptavidin-HRP detection with absorbance read at 450 nm. The workflow typically involves overnight capture-antibody incubation at 2-8 °C, followed by roughly 2-4 hours of standard, sample, and detection antibody steps on the bench. The kit ships with a lyophilized B4GALT1 standard, dilution buffer, 20x wash concentrate, TMB substrate, stop solution, and adhesive plate seals for individual well isolation. Validated with minimal cross-reactivity against human, mouse, and rat B4GALT1 homologs, the assay supports research into lactogenesis, mammary epithelial differentiation, glycosylation pathway profiling, and milk composition traits relevant to dairy cattle breeding and metabolic studies. Reconstituted standards and diluted serum or plasma samples should be kept on ice and used within the same working day for best reproducibility; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of all reagents and protect the TMB substrate from light.
