Bovine Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) ELISA Kit

Bovine AST, also known as glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT), is a pyridoxal-5'-phosphate-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transamination between L-aspartate and α-ketoglutarate to yield oxaloacetate and L-glutamate. The enzyme is released into circulation during hepatocellular injury or skeletal muscle damage, which is why AST activity is widely measured as a clinical biomarker for liver and muscle pathology in cattle. Working with serum or plasma samples, or tissue homogenates, researchers can apply this assay to quantify AST levels in experimental matrices.
