Quantitative measurement of aprotinin in bovine-derived samples is supported by this competitive immunoassay kit from Assay Genie. Aprotinin, commonly known as bovine pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI), is a 58-amino-acid serine protease inhibitor that blocks trypsin, chymotrypsin, plasmin, and kallikrein, and is endogenously produced in the pancreas before being distributed into circulation.

Investigators studying fibrinolysis, coagulation cascades, pancreatic exocrine function, or inflammation pathways in cattle use this kit to quantify aprotinin across a broad range of starting materials, including serum samples, plasma-derived material, tissue homogenate preparations, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatant fractions. The microplate-based format delivers an absorbance-based readout, with the competitive binding principle providing specificity for the small (~6.5 kDa) aprotinin target.

Cell biology laboratories frequently add aprotinin to lysis buffers as a broad-spectrum protease suppressor during protein extraction workflows, and this kit enables tracking of those preparations as well as endogenous bovine samples. Each microplate is sufficient for the indicated number of determinations, and kit components should be refrigerated between uses to preserve activity. Intended for research use only.
