Bovine AP12 (Apelin 12) ELISA Kit

A Competitive ELISA from Assay Genie intended for the quantitative measurement of apelin-12 in bovine samples. The assay uses an antigen-coated competitive format with colorimetric readout and is suitable for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Absorbance is read at 450 nm using a microplate reader.

Linearity across 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions was 84-101%, 86-101% and 85-101% for serum (n=10); 84-99%, 83-90% and 80-92% for EDTA plasma (n=10); and 89-103%, 87-103% and 85-104% for heparin plasma (n=10). Spike-and-recovery testing gave average recoveries of 97% for serum, 97% for EDTA plasma and 98% for heparin plasma (n=10). Sealed kit components should be stored at 2-8°C and not cryopreserved; the lyophilized standard and plate strips may be stored for 1 month at 2-8°C or for 12 months at -20°C.

Apelin-12 is a bioactive peptide that has been linked to the regulation of cardiovascular function, fluid homeostasis and energy metabolism, with its dysregulation associated with obesity, heart failure and diabetes.
