Biopterin is a pteridine cofactor closely related to tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), an essential coenzyme for nitric oxide synthase and the aromatic amino acid hydroxylases that synthesize dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline. Researchers use this Assay Genie competitive immunoassay to quantify biopterin levels in samples, with a standard detection range of approximately 1.6–100 pg/mL and minimal cross-reactivity to neopterin and related pteridines, supporting investigations of neurotransmitter metabolism, hyperphenylalaninemia, cardiovascular function, and immune regulation.

The kit is provided as a microplate with pre-coated wells, calibrated standards, enzyme conjugate, wash buffer, and chromogenic substrate for endpoint readout on a standard plate reader. Reagents should be refrigerated upon arrival and equilibrated to room temperature before use, and the kit is for research use only.
