BID Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this cell-based ELISA kit enables qualitative detection of BID (BH3-interacting domain death agonist) protein expression in cultured cells. BID is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 superfamily involved in programmed cell death, and its dysregulation has been implicated in conditions including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

The kit is reactive with human and mouse samples and uses a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm. It employs an indirect ELISA format in which BID-specific primary antibodies capture the target while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary, catalysing a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance values. For further normalization, the Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density, allowing absorbance values to be normalized to cell amounts. The assay is suitable for measuring relative BID amounts in cultured cells and for screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors such as siRNA or chemicals, and activators on BID expression.

The dynamic range supports analysis above 5000 cells, with storage at 4°C and a stated stability of 6 months. The kit is intended for research applications in the area of cell death.
