Description

Assay Genie's Cell-Based ELISA Kit is designed for the qualitative detection of amylin protein expression in cultured cells using an indirect ELISA format. Amylin is captured by amylin-specific primary antibodies, while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody, catalysing a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. The assay is lysate-free and suited to high-throughput screening of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals) or activators on amylin expression in adherent cells.

The kit is reactive against human amylin, with a dynamic range of > 5000 Cells and colorimetric detection at 450 nm in a 96-well microplate format. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control for normalisation, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining is provided to determine cell density. The kit is stored at 4°C with a stated stability of 6 months.

Amylin (islet amyloid polypeptide) is a peptide hormone involved in glucose metabolism and appetite regulation, with abnormal levels associated with conditions such as diabetes and obesity. The protein belongs to the calcitonin family and selectively inhibits insulin-stimulated glucose utilisation and glycogen deposition in muscle, making it a relevant biomarker for research in endocrinology, metabolic disorders and drug development.
