AHD (Aminohydantoin Hydrochloride) ELISA Kit

This competitive ELISA from Assay Genie is used for the quantitative detection of aminohydantoin (AHD), the marker residue of nitrofurantoin, in food matrices including livestock muscle, liver, honey, milk, milk powder, feed, egg powder, and shrimp. Nitrofurantoin is a prohibited antibiotic in food-producing animals under EU and FDA regulations, making this assay applicable to residue monitoring programs, import compliance testing, and food safety surveillance. The assay uses a competitive inhibition format with a colorimetric readout. Detection range 0.05 to 4.05 ppb, sensitivity 0.05 ppb, and sample volume 50 uL. Sample preparation involves acid hydrolysis and derivatization with 2-nitrobenzaldehyde to release protein-bound residues prior to extraction. The kit includes pre-coated microplate wells, detection antibody, calibrator standards, and substrate sufficient for 96 determinations. Reagents should be refrigerated and protected from light until use. The assay shows minimal cross-reactivity with related nitrofuran metabolites such as AMOZ, AOZ, and SEM.
