Description

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie for measuring Adrenergic Receptor alpha-2C protein expression in cultured cells. The kit is described as lysate-free and sensitive, and uses an indirect ELISA format in which target-specific primary antibodies capture the receptor while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody, producing a colorimetric readout at 450 nm upon substrate addition. The stated Dynamic Range is > 5000 Cells. It is intended for measuring relative receptor amounts in cultured cells and for screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals) and activators.

The assay shows reactivity with human, mouse and rat samples and is designed for adherent cell cultures, using a 96-Well Microplate format. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control for normalizing target absorbance values, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step is provided for determining cell density so that results can be normalised to cell amounts. Storage is at 4°C with a stated stability of 6 months.

Adrenergic Receptor alpha-2C is a G-protein coupled receptor that mediates catecholamine-induced inhibition of adenylate cyclase. Dysregulation of this receptor has been linked to conditions including hypertension, anxiety disorders and ADHD, making it a target of interest for drug development and research in pharmacology and neuroscience.
