This ready-to-use cell dissociation reagent from STEMCELL Technologies combines 0.05% trypsin with EDTA in a balanced salt solution, supporting efficient detachment of adherent mammalian cells during routine passaging. The EDTA chelates calcium and magnesium ions that stabilize cell-cell and cell-matrix junctions, while the trypsin enzymatically cleaves adhesion proteins, allowing rapid cell release with minimal damage to surface markers.

Supplied in a 500 mL bottle containing phenol red as a pH indicator, the solution is filtered and quality-tested for cell culture workflows. Researchers can apply it directly to washed monolayers for 2 to 5 minutes at 37 °C, then neutralize with serum-containing medium. Dilutions of 1:1 to 1:10 in buffer are also common for sensitive lines such as primary cultures and stem cells.

For optimal enzymatic activity, refrigerate the bottle when not in use, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The reagent is intended for research use only and is widely applied in stem cell maintenance, cancer cell line propagation, primary culture establishment, and general cell biology protocols where clean, single-cell suspensions are required for downstream assays such as flow cytometry, immunostaining, and transplantation studies.
