Description

QIAGEN's high-throughput bead mill is engineered for the simultaneous disruption of biological samples through high-speed shaking in plastic tubes with stainless steel, tungsten carbide, or glass beads. Operating across a wide voltage range of 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, it delivers rapid and reproducible homogenization to facilitate downstream molecular analysis. The instrument is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.

Using the appropriate adapter set, up to 48 or 192 samples can be processed in a single run, making the system well-suited for high-throughput disruption of human, animal, and plant tissues, bacteria, and yeast. A grinding jar set is available for processing large samples, and a range of beads, bead dispensers, and collection microtubes and caps support different workflows. The disruption principle relies on high-speed shaking in 1.2 ml collection tubes or 2 ml microcentrifuge tubes, ensuring thorough and rapid release of biomolecules.

Designed for parallel processing, the bead mill is compatible with QIAGEN sample preparation kits for purifying DNA, RNA, proteins, and miRNA from various sample types. It complements QIAGEN automation solutions such as the QIAsymphony SP, and integrates with the QIAcube, EZ1 Advanced, BioRobot, and BioSprint workstations for automated purification of 1–96 samples. The instrument forms part of QIAGEN's complete sample management workflow, supporting genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics applications, including next-generation high-throughput sequencing. For RNA workflows, RNAlater RNA Stabilization Reagent prevents RNA degradation in fresh tissues, while Allprotect Tissue Reagent simultaneously stabilizes DNA, RNA, and protein. A third-party listing identifies AFMS as a supplier of this instrument.
