Pathogen Lysis Tubes L (50)

From QIAGEN, these mechanical disruption tubes are designed for the lysis of fungi, including yeast, and some bacteria through bead-beating. They contain large beads and include Reagent DX, which prevents foaming of the sample during the mechanical disruption step. The tubes are used with the TissueLyser LT bead mill to achieve effective sample homogenization prior to microbial DNA purification, supporting reliable pathogen identification.

Within the QIAsprint workflow for automated pathogen nucleic acid isolation from plasma, serum and cell-free body fluids, the tubes can be used for pretreatment of difficult-to-lyse bacteria, combining mechanical and chemical lysis to release bacterial nucleic acids before automated processing on the QIAsprint Connect.

Application studies with cotton swabs and whole blood spiked with microbial organisms showed that mechanical lysis using these tubes together with the TissueLyser LT, combined with QIAamp UCP Pathogen Kits, produced efficient cell lysis and high yields of microbial DNA, as reflected by low CT values in species-specific real-time PCR assays.
