STEMCELL Technologies STEMdiff Neural Induction Medium is a defined, serum-free formulation for the efficient differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), including embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), into neural progenitor cells. The 250 mL bottle provides sufficient volume for routine neural induction workflows in both academic and pharmaceutical research settings.

This medium supports monolayer and embryoid body-based neural induction protocols, enabling the generation of PAX6-positive and NESTIN-positive neural rosettes that can be expanded as neural progenitor populations. Researchers apply it to neurodegenerative disease modeling, developmental neurobiology studies, in vitro disease research, and high-throughput drug screening applications involving central nervous system targets.

Supplied as a single 250 mL bottle, the medium is combined with the Neural Induction Supplement at the time of use. It integrates with established PSC maintenance media such as mTeSR Plus and pairs naturally with STEMdiff Neural Progenitor Medium for downstream expansion of neural cell populations. The workflow typically proceeds across a 7 to 12 day induction phase, after which rosette-forming neuroepithelium can be harvested and further expanded or differentiated toward neurons, astrocytes, or oligodendrocytes.

For optimal performance, store at -20 degrees C upon receipt, protect from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles by aliquoting into working volumes. Each lot undergoes quality control testing to ensure consistent neural induction efficiency across multiple hPSC lines, supporting reproducible results in cell culture-based neuroscience research.
